IMAscore: Music & Sound Design

The score that makes your world feel unforgettable.

We craft melodies that guests hum on the drive home. With acoustic theming, we transform places into experiences. Since 2009, IMAscore has been composing music and designing sound for theme parks, film, and games.

The conviction

Most audio in an experience is commissioned after the important decisions have already been made. The world is designed, the ride is built, the film is cut — and then someone writes music to fit what's there. We were founded on the belief that this produces something less than it could be.

When sound is part of a world from the beginning — developed alongside the space, the story, or the scene — it doesn't just accompany the experience. A theme park guest walking into a new area hears the shift before they see it. A viewer watching a trailer feels the emotional register of a film before the first image fully makes sense.

The music isn't decorating the experience; it's establishing it.

That conviction runs through everything we make: the elaborate acoustic theming of parks like Phantasialand and Alton Towers Resort, attractions like Liseberg's Helix and Kings Island's Orion, the promotional score for Disney's ‚The Lion King‘ trailer that reached 224.6 million views in the first 24 hours, and trailer music for franchises like Star Wars, Fantastic Beasts, Call of Duty, and Final Fantasy.

Our craft

These are the six things we've spent more than fifteen years getting right. On many projects, we do them all.

  • Music Composition

The score that was composed for a world; built around the emotional arc of the space, the journey through it, and the moments an audience carries home.

  • Sound Design

Every texture, pulse, and detail that turns an environment from a location into a place.

  • Acoustic Theming

The practice of designing sound as a spatial layer; engineering an audio world that accumulates meaning as guests move through it.

  • Orchestra Recording & Arrangement

Live performance gives weight to a score that nothing else replicates. So far, we've recorded more than 50 sessions with professional musicians and epic choirs, because we know exactly where software stops and the human element begins.

  • Voice Talent Direction

Characters, narrators, and atmospheric voices directed for the specific space they'll live in.

  • Audio Post-Production

The final mix built for the actual environment: a theme park at capacity, a cinema with a crowd, a game at volume. The version that holds in the room it was made for.

  • Publishing

The soundtrack accompanying an experience is perhaps the most emotionally powerful souvenir of all. Whether digital, on CD or on vinyl, when guests take the experience home with them, they will most certainly come back one day.

Part of something larger

The most coherent work we do is when IMAscore and IMAmotion are on the same brief. Score and concept develop together; sound design grows alongside the media content it will anchor; acoustic theming is mixed for the physical environment being built in parallel. Nothing gets translated between disciplines. It's the same thinking all the way through.
