Case Study

Momentum

The percussion ensemble Greenbeats has been touring Germany with growing success for many years. While performing alongside DJ BoBo in 2017 marked a major milestone, the group now sells out large venues and arenas in its own right.

For the 2026/2027 Momentum Tour, Greenbeats decided to take its show to the next level. Having worked with IMAscore on backing tracks for several years, the ensemble significantly expanded the collaboration with IMA to include a range of additional creative disciplines.

The first step was to develop a concept that would introduce subtle storytelling into the live show. This narrative was designed to extend beyond the music itself, shaping the visual language of the marketing materials, the stage design and the media content displayed on the integrated LED screens.

A production of this scale, which also marked a first for IMA, brought with it a wide range of additional tasks, both large and small. One of these was the development of the key visual, which was used across the tour's marketing campaign as well as on merchandise, in programme booklets and throughout a variety of supporting media.

Equally extensive was the composition and production of more than 30 minutes of new backing tracks, carefully crafted to support the narrative musically.

Another milestone in IMA's own Momentum journey was the multi-camera recording of the sold-out show at the Congress Center Hamburg. Footage from the concert was featured in the Greenbeats TV commercial, which regularly airs during prime-time programming.

The stage design was developed in close collaboration with Greenbeats, giving the ensemble maximum flexibility when adapting the setup to a wide range of venues. Portability was another key consideration, while the seamless visual integration ensured that the design felt like a natural evolution of the group's live show, one that everyone involved could fully embrace.

In addition to the decorative stage pieces, IMA also produced a series of mobile photo points. Each element can be dismantled into a small number of more manageable components, making transportation as straightforward as possible.

Many of the pieces were painted by hand, giving them a distinctive look that blends naturally into the overall visual concept. Controllable LED strips also allowed the stage elements to be integrated into the lighting design, transforming them from decorative features into an integral part of the production.

Lighting design and media content illustrate the story

Working in harmony with the lighting design created by the Greenbeats team, the media content displayed on the integrated LED panels provided a constantly evolving visual backdrop. Together with voice-over sequences used at key moments throughout the show, these visuals helped guide the audience through the story.

All in all, the production was an outstanding example of teamwork, both within the individual teams and across all parties involved. And most importantly, this joint effort resulted in a show that continues to captivate audiences. The entire 2026 tour sold out, and the 2027 run is well on its way to doing the same.
