A Quiet Place
Studio 1 at Movie Park Germany offers a vast canvas for creating truly cinematic experiences. For the 2024 Halloween Horror Festival, the IMA team helped develop a successor to Project Ningyo, the popular horror maze previously housed in the space, while also strengthening the park's partnership with Paramount Pictures.
The acclaimed A Quiet Place film franchise was chosen as the basis for a horror experience that would not only remain faithful to the source material but also offer visitors to Germany's largest movie and theme park something truly distinctive. IMA joined the project at an early stage, developing the concept and schematic design in close collaboration with the park, its parent company Parques Reunidos and the licensor.

Once the planning phase was complete, work began on the equally creative task of bringing the concept to life. In keeping with the idea of treating the maze as a working film set, a timber-frame structure was built first to support the theming. This provided the foundation for recreating eight scenes from the first two films as faithfully as possible.
Some moments from the films are difficult to bring to life without a touch of Hollywood magic. Carefully staged media content was used to heighten the impact of these scenes and recreate the events on screen as faithfully as possible, from 3D character animations incorporated into CCTV footage and projected shadow play to chilling sound effects designed to make your blood run cold.
Few modern films are made without special effects, and A Quiet Place is no exception. The same is true of the maze. Alongside the media technology seamlessly integrated into scenes throughout the experience, one feature stands out in particular: the enormous animatronic creature from the films.
Like every scene before it, the finale reaches its full potential through the interplay of detailed sets, special effects and the dedicated scare actors who bring the experience to life.
A Quiet Place is not a traditional horror maze. It is a deeply atmospheric experience that faithfully recreates key scenes from the films, appealing first and foremost to fans of the franchise while offering every guest an intensely unsettling journey.
Covering more than 1,400 square metres, it is the largest horror maze in Europe. Combined with its location inside a genuine film studio, this scale opened up unique creative possibilities, from small, claustrophobic spaces to vast, expansive sets, each brought to life through immersive storytelling.
