Case Study

Ziegelblitz

The Gerstlauer bobsled coaster Ziegelblitz at Jaderpark in northern Germany is a wonderful example of teamwork. Park, designers, ride manufacturer, and specialists from all kinds of trades came together to create a unique guest experience. IMAscore and IMAmotion were on board to provide customized music and theming for the attraction.

Introducing: The Ziegelblitz bobsled coaster

Music came into play fairly early in the project. Ziegelblitz sits in the newly created themed area Lüttjes Moor. Its namesake, Lüttje, is a mischievous will-o'-the-wisp who causes all sorts of trouble in an old brickworks. Target audience: families and brave kids from 105 cm (accompanied). The soundtrack had to be industrial, exhilarating, and family-friendly at every turn.

One block further down the media street lives visual content, and that quickly became the next stop on our storytelling journey. Lüttje comes from the pen of Dutch theme park designer Gert Eussen.

We brought the little rascal into three dimensions and animated him — or rather, he animated us — into causing plenty of mischief.

As far as media content goes, Lüttje made the first move in this project, but guests' first media encounter is with the brickworks foreman.

Shot in-studio against greenscreen, he ultimately speaks to guests from a window, charmingly and thematically integrated, setting the tone for Ziegelblitz's story.

One of our highlights on this project was that Jaderpark entrusted us with the technical equipment and integration. We advised on lighting, audio, and media technology, supplied hardware, and staged the many small stories guests encounter from entrance to exit — some obvious, some hidden.

Along the way, props were lit, sound effects were tucked away, and Lüttje pulls off a flawless cannonball into a lantern — as one does!

The Halloween twist: same tech, different story

Guests enjoy a great ride, and Lüttje quickly became a crowd favorite. But is the story fully told? Not at all!

A media-driven attraction with practically manageable lighting control lets the story take on a special twist at Halloween. Better not give the little devil too much sugar!
